Learn about The GROW Initiative and the Finca Mono Verde partnership
|
Finca Mono Verde has been a featured project of The GROW Initiative since founders Donny & Brooke Comer first visited the farm in 2010.
The GROW Initiative works alongside individuals from the most impoverished of nations to improve their standard of living while protecting their cultural identity and the environment. GROW's goal is to use grassroots projects as the basis to improve the standard of life for those who need it most, as well as provide opportunities for those in more prosperous countries to directly connect to other cultures while helping the less fortunate. This direct link between donors and recipients, fosters a more integrated international community based upon brotherhood instead of misunderstanding as well as provides a greater appreciation and respect of one's own traditions. |
Current ProjectFinca Mono Verde & The GROW Initiative recently held a successful fundraiser on Razoo to raise the funds needed to construct a new central structure on the farm to be used for communal cooking and dining, food processing, workshops, classes, entertainment, relaxation and more. The site is being cleared in fall/winter 2015, with building to commence after the rainy season in 2016. There's still time to support this project, click the box below!

Featured ProjectIn 2014, The GROW Initiative was awarded a grant from the Presbyterian Church to support a Community Nutrition Project in Tabuga. Through this generous support, GROW helped Finca Mono Verde build and develop a working greenhouse on the farm for the community to propagate plants, and held a series of successful community workshops inviting Ecuadorian experts to teach community members about home gardening, beekeeping and diet and nutrition.
